Biography
It is said that given the right conditions, anything can happen. It's no wonder that seemingly small coincidences coalesced within a very specific time window at a very specific geographical location in western Canada to give rise to the sonic phenomenon known as DIVINITY.
Formed in Calgary, Canada, in the late 90s,
Since 1997, DIVINITY has consistently pushed the boundaries of heavy metal. Driven by a relentless creative spirit and a dedication to sonic innovation, the band has evolved through various lineups and labels, always striving for a unique and powerful sound.
Early on, DIVINITY honed their skills in the Calgary music scene, culminating in the release of their “Intensify” EP. A pivotal moment arrived with the signing to Nuclear Blast Records, propelling them onto the international stage. Their debut album, “Allegory,” released in 2007, showcased their blend of thrash, progressive, and death metal, earning critical acclaim.
Following the release of their sophomore album, “The Singularity,” on Candlelight Records, the band took a necessary hiatus to recharge. In 2012, DIVINITY returned with renewed vigor, embarking on “The Immortalist Trilogy,” a three-part concept EP series that further refined their sound and solidified their position as a force in the Canadian metal scene.
Throughout their career, DIVINITY has shared the stage with heavy metal titans like Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, and Devin Townsend Project, solidifying their reputation as a live powerhouse.
